dyno tune using efi live

i just dyno tuned my 1.4 at a place near me on the east coast called psi proformance. i have taken all my previous turbo cars there cause i like the way they tune. so on 93 octane pump gas i got some pretty good numbers. the only thing modded on my car performance wise so far is a straight pipe cat back. with just that we were able to get 160 hp and 180 torque ( to the wheels not the crank) at 15 psi. we were also able to increase the throttle response and powerband. so now i noticed i build boost at 1600 rpms and achieve full boost at 2400 rpms and can carry it all the way to 6500. im pretty happy with it at the moment but as soon as i can ill be upgrading the turbo, injectors, intake, intercooler, and fuel pump. if u guys want ill post a video of me doing a 0-100 mph pull and a 30-110 pull now that its tuned.

I volunteer you to be the first SOF member to go for the injector/pump upgrade. Are you planning on staying with 93 or switching to E85?

Nice!, Did you get a pre-tune dyno done, I would love to see the delta on that dyno.

i have no problem being the first member to do the upgrade i just need to save up the money to do it. lol unless u guys wanna help :banana: also im going to stay with 93 pump gas cause this is my daily and i dont have any e85 close to me.

Makes sense now with a 3 pound boost increase. Any chance you ran the 3 pounds and tune BEFORE the exhaust change?

I thought the 1.4's turbo is able to push more than 15psi safely?

Yes, I seem to remember 16lb factory. Both Vermont and Trifecta go to 20lb unless there is a request for something more. 16+3=19 which is close to 20 unless I am wrong about what follows 19. I suspect going +4 using premium will work quite well.

It is nice to see some Sonic dyno charts posted. After so long with just a couple, we suddenly have them coming in bunches. Yea!

I must have misread the post, I thought it read that it was increased +3 to 15psi, my bad. 19-20 seems about what I have been use to seeing with tuning. I can't wait to tune the Sonic with Trifecta.

I am still looking for more detail on these dyno sheets and from the tuners. We should have before and after sheets. We should be able to see the AFR. We should know what the temps Ambient, at the intake, at the intercooler and in the plenum. I use an infrared laser pyrometer when my cars are on the dyno and compare that to the data available with the tuning software. The reality is when you leave the dyno or install a mail order tune you own the engine failure if it goes South. You should have as much information as you can understand and process.

I work with a number of OEM engineers for suspension. The engineers I meet are for the most part smart, capable and are hard core car guys. When they send an engine out the door with X pounds of boost and a 100K warranty they are betting against warranty claims. That means there is a reasonable cushion to push the boost up, lean the burn and add timing. The trick is to go just far enough to make your car more enjoyable, but not so far as to reduce reliability. Find the balance you are comfortable with and have at it.

I agree, I think I'm going to switch to 93 octane when I get it tuned and only increase boost by 3 psi as well. 160/190 at the wheels is more than reasonable with this motor and not internal work done.
