Stock Sonic 1.4L Dyno ('12 LTZ 6M)

So I decided I wanted a baseline for my sonic.

Strapped it on the dyno for a few pulls.

138whp and 161 tq

I dont think this is the highest stock dyno ever but certainly not the worst. I am happy with the results. Tune + intake + exhaust + IC upgrade should yield above 150wheel for sure. Which wont be too bad getting 30 mpg


There are two (2) runs. The first one was the 138 and 161. The second one, I thought I would be clever and remove the air filter so the turbo could breathe. Well the car didnt like it one bit lol and the car lost power.

Isn't 138 the rated stock flywheel HP? What fuel was in the car?

93 from shell or UDF. Can't remember.

Yeah I want their IC upgrade and intake. I'm going to give BNR a call as well. I'd like to try out an e85 sensor as well. I'm too chicken to try and put it in myself . I'm pretty sure another member here has a sensor hooked up that looks stock.

not bad. I especially like the torque curve, though that is a given with our engines. I was also under the impression that HP fell off in the high RPMs, but that is not evident by this dyno graph.

Two things I noticed looking at the graphs....

1. Heat soak kills power quickly! the difference between run 1 and run 2 are huge!
2. The power drops off right where I knew it would ~5300RPM

Heat soak had nothing to do with it.

The second run I thought i would be clever and remove the air filter and let the box hang open. The car didnt like it one bit. The car was sitting at 219 degrees the whole time while on the dyno.

Ill try and get the 2nd vid up so you can hear/see the difference.

That's odd that it bothered yours. My car picked up 6-7whp with the airbox opened as you describe.
Mine was on a lower reading Mustang dyno ~8-9% lower than the local DJ.
Closed it made 120whp and 129wtq completely stock.
Open it made 126whp and 131wtq completely stock
I'm currently developing something that made +17whp and +17wtq over the baseline numbers without any tuning, and NO CELs :banana:
