Autometer 6159 Boost Gauge Install 2013 Sonic RS w/PICS!

Got the idea for this Gauge install from another forum member...

Here is a photo montage of an Autometer 6159 vacuum/boost gauge install in a 2013 Chevrolet Sonic RS Automatic. The gauge blends in to the Sonic interior nicely and the backlighting complements the other interior lighting as well.

The install consists of 3 phases:

1) Partial dash disassembly & mount the gauge
2) Mount & plumb the sending unit
3) Run the wiring and dash reassembly

It took me a whole weekend to do this install. It would probably go much quicker the 2nd time around.

This is not meant to be instructional.

Anyone who uses these photos as a tutorial does so at their own peril, lol.. Enjoy!

Your install looks very clean, and like you said the visibility is excellent. A vac/boost gauge is in my plans but I'm not brave enough to mount it in such a permanent fashion, lol. Great work though!

I have the RS but with the mechanical version of that very gauge. The Autometer 6103 gauge... Sweet install but too bad I'm not willing to cut up the dash.

Just realized there are two versions of this gauge, and $150 difference. Anyone offer opinion on two types, mechanical which I assume means running tubing into dash verses electrical which means running wire from sender in engine bay to dash?

Is that the wrong place to tap for boost? The video makes it look so erratic. I suspect thats why the disabled comments on the video.
