finally, japanese sonic center console

so straight from japan i decided to take the risk to purchase this not knowing if it fit

step one was screwing the lower base into the third or rear cup holder location

next came the lid for the lower

next came the intermediate section in which lower and mid screwed together

the top compartment folds open to 1 allow you to use both of the other cup holders and 2 to access the screw points

the stock armrest had to be removed, once the zipper is unzipped a single bolt holds it in place

this is the pic of the intermediate section and the top section jointed together

this is the center console fully in place, the cushioned part slides forward for even more comfortable shifting haha.

the center console has a compartment which is nice for holding sunglasses and what not

and last but not least a pic of the cushion in the forward position

I ordered it on ebay it says its for the japanese aveo or the euro haldon if i spelled it right. It was 65 and it takes a few weeks to come from japan

I'm thinking of ordering one of these but I have a couple of concerns. Is it tall enough to actually give support and can you see the hole in the driver's seat where the factory "armrest" was bolted on?

I may buy it to try out for myself and if I'm not happy I can always sell it at a loss. lol

EDIT: Oh what the hell, I went ahead and ordered it after playing around with the car's stock armrest and comparing photos to real life.

to be 100% honest it is a wee bit tall... but.... for those six speed folks who are shifting alot me included its very comfy! plus now both the door armrest as well as the center console are the same height. to me i am content with that

Good, I need it to be tall as I have a tall torso.

Can you see the hole in the driver's seat or does the armrest cover it?

It fits great! My upper portion is at the upholstry shop till monday so i cant take any pictures right now. But it fits great. Ill post more when i get it back

Yeah cup holders handy. I remember when I had my first car '96 Lumina I only had 1.5 cup holders. Really inconvenient not having any because of an aftermarket arm rest.

Actually, it looks like the forward cupholder is still useable with the armrest down but you'd need to fold it up to use the middle cupholder. Kinda sucks about losing the rear cupholder, but I'm willing to sacrifice it for a real armrest.

because of the pivot both of the remaining cup holders are accessible, just fold up the lid place the drink and put it back down. not bad really
