I decided I needed my side exit exhaust so bad I could not wait for the boom tubes I had planned on getting so I improvised!
You'll need
a reciprocating saw with a metal blade
9/16th deep socket (for the clamp)
2 1/8" exhaust clamp
14mm socket (for the flange on the resonator)
Patience gobs of it...
Also this could be done under the car, but it would be easier to pull it out first. Whats not pictured here was removal of the exhaust but that pretty easy....
I started with what was removed months ago, some work gloves, and everything mentioned above.
This is laid out to kinda show how it will work.
Cut the tail pipe from the muffler, and remove the bend before the muffler (where it goes over the rear "axle")
A mock up to see how big of a pain this will be
This is what will not be used of the stock system
There is a pretty big difference in pipe size from the tail pipe and the exhaust
Take your time and clamp that "tip" on the exhaust pipe (you're going to want a beer or three while take your time to do this)
I cut a 1/4" gap down the tip so it could come together on the pipe
(I know it doesn't look like 1/4" but that's it clamped down)
Bolt up the resonator to the flange from the cat, then hook up the hangers. you want to check clearance of the parking brake cable
I figured this would work for at least a day or two
But I was wrong
It melted in less than 20 minutes!
I gave it another go with some foil and zip ties
It held up during the commute this morning
I'll get videos up soon, its too quiet for my liking but I'll fix that later.
