Vin etching

Not sure where to post this. I paid for vin etching which i really did not want.
Where is the etching located, I can't seem to find it. The one the salesman showed me was on lower left of glass

If the salesman showed you where it was why can't you find it?

Vin etching is done on glass parts, usually, to make it harder for thieves to sell parts off of a stolen car. It is mostly a SCAM for dealers to charge you $800 for $15 dollars worth of material and work. See the link below where some Police departments will do it for free.

yeah, should be on every window...my old Riviera had it... was never used once....as car was never stolen..

Look in all the corners of your windows is my best advice, you can also run your hands over the glass and feel the rough patch where it is etched. Or go back to where you purchased the car and have a salesman/service tech show you to prove they did the work they charged you for.

I did my VIN etching myself! Its very easy and takes very little time! It took me about 45 minutes, including beer and bullsh#9ing!
I used VIN Etching - Do It Yourself Vin Etching Kits. I got the kit in about 4 days!:banana:

Because salesmen have much more experience at selling cars than most people do buying cars.

Buying cars is a skill that takes time and experience to develop. If you have someone you trust that can help you with advice, it helps. I think everyone here has been taken advantage of or knows someone that was taken advantage of by a salesman.

Stuff happens, you learn from it, and you move on. Or in this case, point out the flaw and see what you can get out of it.

The dealer I just bought from did this exact thing to me. They charged me $299 for vin etching, and claimed it was a dealer fee, the etching was never done. They also charged me in the wrong tax bracket (10.5% when it was supposed to be 7.25%)

I will be getting a check for about $800, supposedly, I'm sure it will take MANY follow up calls.
