I have a 2013 Sonic Lt. Recently my car was making a ticking noise that followed the rpms, and a couple minutes of driving, I was losing acceleration power and it would barely accelerate. then a couple days later, got an engine light on. Dealer diagnosed this as a "knock sensor" code. Long story short, I want to install it myself, but am unaware of where it might be located. Looking online is no help so im coming on here for help. any help is appreciated, also if anyone thinks what also might be the issue if its NOT the knock sensor, i'm open to suggestions.

It is below the intake manifold, near the starter.

That's what I figured, so basically on the back side of the engine which wouldn't be accessible from the top of the car? you think you'd be able to get to it if you put the car on some jack stands?

Should be doable on stand or ramps, not sure what might be in the way.

The knock sensor is basically a microphone that is listening for detonation/pinging and telling the ECM to be careful. It can't cause a noise itself. I'd trace down the actual cause of your issue before you replace a part that isn't bad.
What was the actual code it had? If the dealer charged you to diag it, they should have provided that at least. Did they have a reason for what happened to the knock sensor or why it set the code?
