Hi guys I wanted to give foresight to some with higher mileage cars, This is on a 2012 LT (1.4T) model.
Check your heater core hoses. It seems mine have swollen a good 1/2" or so in diameter after 123,000 miles and they have worn a hole in one hose (inlet, part#:96958209). Here's how I repaired mine.
Ordered an acdelco replacement from gm parts direct. You will also need a flat screwdriver and 7mm socket.
First take this hose clamp and hose loose. This allows you to loosen the pinch clamp on the water inlet.
I fought this pinch clamp for a while before going for the clip on the 90° bend (much easier) and prying it out.
With it out I inspected both hoses
I found the hole where I was leaking fluid on the bottom and the reason. The pipe had expanded making the clamps a pain to remove but also rubbed against this metal piece
I replaced the hose and no more leak!
