I would guess both are sedans if I had too.
Anyone know what M stands for? Just an overdrive?
Of those last two pictures do we know which one is a the hatch and which is a sedan interior?
I would guess that the M is the Manual/Low range
Hey, my Honda Fit (AT) has a manual mode which allows you to use paddle shifters located on either side of the steering wheel. Maybe GM is adding either paddle shifters or the equally pseudo-manual "slap-shift" mode.
Nice heads-up on that! The one thing I would miss in switching from the Fit to the Sonic would be my paddle shifters... it's almost like having the best of both worlds. If the Sonic offers something similar to either two I've mentioned it would be a really smart idea for GM to do so. If I feel like getting more punch out of my Fit and throwing it around turns, the paddle shifters are a blast.
I have a friend who has a second gen. PT Cruiser with the manual "Slap Shift" mode and it's also a blast. Again, it's like having both manual and AT in the same ride.
This is even more exciting if that's what the "M" means! Oh man, I hoping that's what it is. Like I said, I'll miss the paddle shifters in my Fit Sport.
I would guess that the M is the Manual/Low range
It is "manual mode", but I wouldn't quite compare it to stick. If you look at the picture of the automatic shifter, you can see a little indent in the button. The top of the button is +, the bottom is -. I drove a 2011 Malibu with it. You can indeed select the gears, but it still shifts at it's convenience (in my experience) and not at your exact whim like a true paddle shift or manual.
Yeah... I posted information straight from the owners manual in my previous post above.
While it may not be a true Ferrari-style paddle shifter manual (what is?) -- and neither is the "manual mode" paddle shifting on my Fit Sport -- once you get used to it it is definitely the next best thing to an actual manual tranny, without sacrificing the comfort of an AT, and void of the shift-in-traffic hassle associated with manual shifters.
It's definitely close enough to manual for me... when I want to actually drive the car.
