2017 Sonic Salvage with Airbag Questions

Bought this car at auction recently for $3190. Haven't been driving it yet since it needs airbags replaced and some minor exterior work taken care of.

Car deployed the driver wheel, knee, and curtain airbag as well as the passenger curtain. I've bought a replacement wheel and knee already. Still trying to locate the curtains for both sides. Ordered a new passenger crash sensor as well.

1. Will I have to go to the dealer to reset the airbag codes once replaced or are there any reasonable scanners that will do the trick?

2. Any other items that I might need to replace prior to resetting codes?

3. Chevy part number for the roof mounted airbags are different every year on the sedan from 2012 - 2018, yet car-part.com shows the 2016 and the 2017 as interchangeable and most yards on ebay agree. Anyone out there that knows for sure?

Decided to go for it on a pair of 2016 curtain airbags and they are on their way. Would still like to hear on these questions if anyone can offer help. Thanks.

Any quality scanner should be able to clear it.

You will need to replace anything that still shows as current faults when you scan it for the light to go out. There could be deployed seat belt tensioners or other parts.

I replaced airbags and had the pretensioners and retractors rebuilt as well as the SRS erased. I started the car and still had the airbag light. I ran the codes and had 16 flags even with the SRS controller having been erased. I turned the car off, crossed my fingers and used the Foxwell NT630 Elite to erase and they were all gone. Restarted the car and airbag light off and information light off.
