Best Tune

Ok so at some point in the near future I'd like to tune my auto 1.4T. Which tune do you guys reccomend? I want to hear pros and cons. For example, BNR has that crackle tune that sounds amazing, but Trifecta has rolling antilag. What do you guys think?

I’d go BNR for several reasons.

They have the record for fastest sonic.

Your tunes are loaded on the auto cal, it holds 5 tunes, and you can literally swap tunes within 30 seconds anywhere. You don’t need a computer like you would with trifecta.

Trifecta uses the cruise control to deactivate the tune, BNR doesn’t mess with your Cruze control, you’ve got the handheld.

BNR isn’t just tuning, they have parts and support for all of your automotive needs.

BNR comes with the EFIlive tuning software. You can literally look at everything your car is doing after taking data logs on the handheld.

The handheld gives you access to clear CELs, view CELs, view live data from the car, record data logs on the fly.

Trifecta is good, but BNR is the best.

Trifecta and BNR offer nearly identical feature sets. It really doesn't matter what you go with at this point in time.

Agree with everything with the above comments but be aware that BNR is always back logged with tune and data log request. So turn around time is 2 weeks plus depending on time of year. Only exception is they have clear instructions on emergency issues if car won't start etc. Besides that great service and products.

Also highly recommended after they send you the base tune you data log right away and send results back to BNR and give feedback to whatever you like or dislike and they'll make adjustments. For example the base 93 octane tune had way to much part throttle boost and made driving jerky and I wanted a more Linear response along with a 87 detuned eco mpg tune. Also having that much boost with that little throttle input is extra wear and tear on turbo, motor and parts that I felt were unnecessary. BNR got back to me within a couple weeks and soo much better to drive now with a bit more power. Power is Linear and there when I need it and mpg is better not always having boost with little throttle input. Very happy.

Also recommended after every mod to have a data log to review and see if any adjustments are needed. Unlimited tunes are the benefits of bnr too. Good luck.

The base option is basically canned tune. If you go for the elite option, it allows for unlimited retunes. I believe you can upgrade from one to the next for just the cost of the difference. It's all on their website, and you can always reach out to customer support and they're active on the Gamma II group on FB

Yep! Just to clarify, Cruise COntrol and all vehicle features, continue to work as intended. You'll just have the cool feature of being able to turn the tuned power on and off. Switching to the factory power calibration is great for cruising on the hwy etc and get stock MPGs.

I can attest to the High Quality of the Trifecta Tune. Had it since 2013 with the Power Tune/ECO tune controlled by my cruise control button. It is IMMEDIATE on/off function. Thanks TRIFECTA.

Can you let us know where you’ve been hearing this? Emails sent to our contact us page, customer support email address, or company Facebook page are answered within a couple days. New tunes are usually delivered within a couple days, and we try to stick to a 5-7 business day turnaround time on data logs, unless it’s an emergency, in which case you’re instructed with your purchase to email customer support and we respond within 24 hours.

Admittedly, this was last fall. Seemed like almost every week someone was posting a cry thread about being 2 or 3 or 4 weeks in without hearing back about data logs/retunes etc.

Sounds like you guys are back on top of things which is great. I dont have a tune yet, but I am rapidly approaching the end of my warranty, and so far chevy has been less than helpful.

Seeing as how you're here, would new aftermarket coil packs help with the hesitation issue? I am seeing some aftermarket options but not sure if they are usable without a tune (like the ls7 coils)

When we moved a couple years ago there was a major backlog, and then sometimes with the crazy amount of black friday sales we do there can be a couple week backlog but during normal times of the year its 5-7 business days. Again though, even during busy times, if you have an issue and aren't just looking for an enhancement, 24 hour turn around is normal.


If you're getting some sort of hesitation issues, maybe try changing plugs or look at your coil for signs of corrosion. That's usually the main culprit.
