Bully Dog GT Tuner

Haven't seen anything on this. Just came across it today. I know everyone is an advocate of Trifecta and their tune has been proven many times over. Came across this unit while i was shopping for an all in 1 display. Wondering if anyone has heard anything about it? Ive personally never had any experience with Bully Dog, I know a lot of my friends with diesel trucks that have had a lot of good things to say

Ive been looking in to the ultra gauge and the scangauge 2. for a tune ive been debating between trifecta and a zzp dyno tune. Been putting off my exhaust until i get the tune to let me go turbo-back cat-less.

Since you're fairly close to ZZP, I'd go with their tune. I hate waiting on tune log reviews and updates from Trifecta. To me, it's the equivalent of having to send a carb back to the manufacturer for a jet change.

It's a canned tune, it will probably give you a gain but it's built to be safe on any Sonic 1.4 so there is a fair amount of safety built into the tunes. I'd stick with trifecta or go with ZZP since they are down the street. If you have to have the bully dog gauge just pick up the watch dog gauge. Bully Dog

Back to bully dog.

As far as there diesel tunes go, they are very good. Even on there heavy duty series. I'm sure there gas tunes are just as good, but for a cheaper price and a non canned tune. Trifecta is where it's at.

Sorry Sub couldn't help myself, and your point is completely understandable and true.

Trifecta FTW. I imagine the bullydog is more fun than stock but I'd bet my sonic that 1. They haven't tuned as many Sonics. 2. It runs on the "generic" safe side of fuel, boost, and timing side of things. G- it costs more (when trifecta's on sale). And Z- isn't it a "piggyback" and not actually an ECM tune?)

Note: I'm not saying It's actually a bad product, just in MY opinion a better product exist. Also It's a good thing to see product development is still progressing for our cars.

Bully dog is a ECM tune. At least it is on the diesels. I'm assuming it the same on cars

This one looked like a obd piggyback from what i could tell. I totally understand it would be a mild tune, figured it might be good for an all in 1 that would allow me to do some exhaust work. In the end though im leaning more towards ZZP

IMO if you're going to tune, then tune and don't bother with fake piggyback things.

Trifecta or don't bother.

Sorry to revive an older thread but need to as a question about this. I'm new here and to the sonic, just got it last month. Isn't the bully dog better for having several tunes you can change on the fly? Can you do that with the trifecta? Like on weekdays I'd like a tune for gas mileage cause I drive 120 miles a day, but on the weekend I might want to some more sporty driving (try and keep up with my friends s4 Audi) and the bully dog has both u can change between, does the trifecta? Or would I have to buy both tunes? Bully dog might not be as great a tune but ill see gains in both with it.

Trifecta selecta-tune allows you to toggle between either eco/performance tune or you can get it set for stock/performance mode. This is all controlled via CC button on steering wheel if you purchased that option. Purchase the trifecta full tune. there is no charge to reflash if you add basic bolt ons like intake and exhaust. Read the thread on the trifecta tune. All you questions will be answered there

You need to find a reputable Tuner and hit the dyno. You wont be doing your Sonic justice with a Canned Tune. Absolutely nothing against the Trifecta tune's but one on one with a tuner and getting everything you can out of your car which is unique too all other Sonic's is the way too go.

Trifecta's premium tune gives you essentially that. Budget tune is their canned tune.
