DynaMat vs. FatMat

I'm looking to do some sound-deadening in my doors and hatch and narrowed it down to DynaMat and FatMat. The DynaMat sounds to be of higher quality while the FatMat seems to be cheaper across the board but I've read reviews of it stinking up your car for weeks after installation. Does anyone have experience with one or the other or both?

I've only ever heard of dynamat... and nothing but good reviews.

And from past experience on other choices of buying cheaper compared to the name brand... I've always regretted NOT buying the name brand!

Fat mat all the way...

I just bought a roll of fat mat 50mil, I should have look around for a better price but im in a hurry... It works great and I also used it on my Tundra double cab, 1 Alpine 10, 2 JL 8s, and 2 sets of 6 inch infinity components, 2 alpine 1000 and a kenwood 450... Needless to say.. It hit hard, and it all stayed in side no rattles all on fat mat.. be carefull buying cheaper than that... the sticky stuff isnt that good... in the heat and cold it can just come off... BUT never had that prob with Fat mat... Ill be doing the doors this week... but if you`ve never seen the inside of you sonic, they dont have much area inside the car that needs it... I only bought mine for the roof and doors and spare tire area... which dont have any dampening material.

I filled my car with 80 mil fatmat and didnt had a problem with smell, no complaints with it and better price than dynamat.

I have been using DynaMat in my sonic for about 2 years now, I have never had a problem with it smelling up my car. If it is installed right you should have no problems. I have plenty of deadener in my Sonic. 1 15" Orion HCCA wired to 1 ohm and powered by an RE XTX5000.1 (2500 RMS daily use).

It mostly is personal opinion. You can find just as good of deadener as DynaMat for cheaper if you look (Fatmat, etc). I used DynaMat because that was the readily available option that my install shop had.
