ecu update from gm

I got an update today 12273 I think was the number could anyone find out what it was. The dealer did not know, but they updated it anyway.

i asked a gm tech and they told me they could not discuss it with me. so any help?

"They can't discuss it" probably means it popped as an update and they don't know/care, they just do what they are told and nothing more. Post it on wot-tuning.com, Vince has access to all GM tunes and can probably find out for you.

the dealer told me it was probobly something to improve gas mileage, i asked a tech on here and they said they could not discuss it with me.

i searched all over and nothing came up

When I talked to my Service Manager on Thursday he told me there was an update. He grabbed a tech to explain since it didn't say what it was for. The tech said it was to fix an issue with not being able to restart the car after a stall.

I know when I first got mine I stalled it and when I tried to restart it the key did nothing for a couple seconds. I wonder if this fixes this.

Because they didn't know what the update was for and that was the fastest lie they could come up with to try and keep some credibility and cover up their lack of knowledge and capability to do anything other than plug a dongle into an OBD II port and hit send.

I would hope the dealers would ASK before doing ECU updates. I would not be happy if they did that to my car.

Its an update for manual cars...the flaw is sometimes when you stall the car, the car will 1. take a little while to restart. and 2. once restarted you will not be able to go over 5MPH. it is a TSB, I got the update last week when I took my car in to have them look at my radio.

Hmm, does that conflict with Trifecta tune?

There's a box you can check on the envelope they have you put keys in that says Tuneup, I circled it and put a big arrow that says DO NOT TUNE. On the other hand, I'm on full disclosure with my service dept, so folks trying to hide their mods might not want to do that.

I can just picture them overriding my E85 blue pill and then not being able to get the car to move out of the bay till I come over and fix it. I'll laugh and laugh.

I'd be very interested to know how this would work if I flash back to stock take it in for service and while in service they do this update...would I still be able to flash the tune back in place with no issues? Or would I need to get an updated tune?
