high beam cold air intake

Just thinking, has anyone considered modifying the headlight so the high beams are removed and used as cold/ram air? like people do on del sol or integra? I thought about running tubes from both to my k&n but then I thought I would just use the passenger side and let the driver's side just be to cool the engine bay more.. and get it dirty :blankface: ... just a thought.. idk how to modify the headlight too so just the one will be high n low like it is on regular cars.. input?

internet is frustratingly slow over here, the integra has the same housing style we do tho, their high n lows are connected like one piece, I will be searching further into how they do it, when I get some patience back for the internet lol perhaps we could make some sort of cap too, if it were snowy or something n u just didn't want to use it that day.. etc etc

You may want to check state laws some uf not all require a high beam set of lights and I don't see this being any more effective then the fog light intake and that looks good and let's you keep your lights

It's fun to dream, but this isn't really a reasonable option with our headlight assembly. You would have to cut the clear lens that covers the entire light assembly and that will be very hard to seal with an air inlet.

I don't have a pic with the bezel off but the clear lens is one continuous piece that covers high, low and turn signal.

Fog lamp bezel connects directly to the fender area where the snorkel to the SAB goes. I think removing headlamps and building some sort of Rube Goldberg tubing and replacing the set of low/high with a single lens low/high sounds like a lot of work and money in order to accomplish something that you could do in an hour with a dremel

It'd be very hard to seal off the two different chambers for the Hi/low. It actually has a front reflector and a rear which are not connected inside the headlight assembly. This is possible but would need some custom funnel to shut off the air.

It's possible with alot of time, work, some money, and a big loss of functionality.

I'm not faulting your thinking on this, It's a cool sounding idea and looks kinda simple at 1st. Unfortunately the design constraints of the stock headlamp make it a huge hassle to implement and at the cost of an important light and probably a decrease in longevity of the other light.

I did a fairly similar thing on my 07 sierra with the lower marker light & DRL. Hacked up the assembly and reinstalled the outer most blinker. Put in some sheet metal in the existing hole and sealed it to the airbox.

But I retained all functionality of the lights except for 1 DRL (on the side that ALWAYS burns out) and a marker light (I installed lights in the intake but they wouldn't work right depending if the DRL's were on or off. Needed a 7ohm resistor that i never could find.)

fortunately for you the same end goal can be achieved by going thru the foglight housing. It's easy, cheap, and if you don't have fogs doesn't affect any lights;if you have fogs you lose 1, not a terribly big deal. I think I posted a link to the DIY thread in one of your other threads; the one with I think 9 questions if my memory is correct.
