Is the 1.4 turbo a direct injection engine?

Is carbon build up a problem? Will a sea foam treatment in the intake (sucked into a vacuum line) clean it out? Will a catch can help keep it clean?

Nope, it’s Multi Port Fuel Injection.

The new 1.4L turbo you’ll find in the 2016 Cruze & later is Direct Injection & Start-Stop tech. But the new Sonics still have the old engine.
