My alarm starts blaring when I lock the car w/the fob.

So, I arrive at work today and lock the car in the usual way with my key fob. It set off the alarm! When I lock the car manually, the unlock button on the fob also causes the alarm to start blaring away. I'll try the other fob when I get home, but I thought I'd toss this out here in case anyone else has experienced their key fob setting off their alarm, too. Maybe the fob battery is low?

I don't know what would cause that. Googling turned up nothing useful except this post. Take it to the dealer and let us know... you wont be the only one this happens to.

To make this more interesting, the prior weekend we were at a trade show at the convention center. When we were looking for the Sonic in the parking structure, my husband hit the lock a couple of times to listen for the chirp of the horn. We followed the sound, arriving at a Subaru with an aftermarket alarm. He was able to set off that Subaru's alarm by using the panic button on the Sonic fob. We eventually found our Sonic on the next level up.
