ScarabEpic22, yeah I'm not sure on the use or swappability of ecu's. Opel has a direct injection engine on the same platform; not sure which computer they use though. It's still just simple input output; injector drivers are cheap. I bet money I could get an arduino board with 4 driver boards attached to make a simple injection conversion. Same setup that I have on my 3d printer to run the 4 x,y,z axis motors.
Run a few wires, and voila. Could even make a plug and play harness. It's pretty simple really. Tuning would be no easy feat, but electrical motors and solenoids are simple. They are expecting a voltage to make them work; your job is to feed that voltage.It's not easy, but not rocket science.
It looks like the Megasquirt guys are using a Hyundai injector conversion box like the Honda's, so I think it's completely possible. Just food for though. =P
