painting over chrome?

For those of you that painted over the chrome bumper, window and grill trim what did you guys use? I'm gonna be doing them red just looking at what paint will adhere good

I did paint, but it's just chipping off, the plasti dip held a lot better. When summer hits, I am going to sand all the chrome trim down to make sure the paint sticks.

I was thinking of sanding it down and going with some krylon plastic paint.

Right now i have plastidip on mine. Peeling it off this spring and putting down 3m 1080 carbon fiber vinyl.

Another option is to paint over plastidip. You could still peal it off down the road that way.

I'm not worried about peeling It off. I read that it worked best if you lightly sand then use etching primer wet sand then paint for best results I'm just wondering if I should use a certain paint like krylon fusion paint that's made for plastic but the etching primer is made for normal sheetmetal.

Why not just vinyl wrap the trim

If you ever need anything vinyl, pm me.

But I would plasti dip the chrome vs vinyl.


If you like the color, at that point look into painting.

Dip is a lot easier to remove then paint if you don't like it.
