Hi all,
I drive a 2012 Holden Barina 1.6L in Australia. I was driving today and all of a sudden, I got code 89 on my dash. First time my car has ever thrown a code. Managed to pull over and then the temperature light came on. Probably only drove 1-2 minutes. Rang my mechanic and he asked if I could add some water to the car. Some leaking was coming out from under the car. Observe in pictures.
Towed to the mechanic and he observed the following:
- A few of the radiator hoses had burst (sorry - I do not have pictures). Completely missed this when adding the water.
- Radiator tank was empty, however, there was a pink sludge at the bottom which was sort of oily. I'm not sure if the tank had melted, but the engine did not have any water in it. Hoping not a head gasket issue and haven't had any other signs of this. Picture attached.
This issue was quite sudden and apart from the code, there was no other indication this was going to happen. Was accelerating fine and sounded as normal. How serious do you think this issue is and has anyone experienced similar?
