I was wondering is anyone knows how long it takes to reset the EVAP monitor on the 2012 1.8L Sonic?
I've recently had some repairs on it to fix a persistent knock sensor problem. We're hoping, after five trips to repair shop, that it's finally fixed. It's been a pain in the *** and not something I needed right when I needed it to pass an emissions inspection to get my tag renewed.
The problem now is that the EVAP monitor won't reset. I've put close to 400 miles on it since getting it back from the dealership's repair shop (the car now has about 132,350 miles on it, btw) and it still won't reset.
I've tried to do the drive cycles using a chart the dealership gave me, but it's not easy. I live in a surburban area where you just can't go from a cold start and idling straight to driving a sustained speed of 55 mph for several minutes at a time. The nearest interstate is a 10-15 minute drive from my house. Does it matter in the drive cycle if I can or cannot go straight to 55 mph from a cold start and idling?
I'm just left scratching my head wondering what to do or how long it will take the EVAP monitor to get its act together.
Any insight or suggestions would be appreciated.
