Several Issues 2014 Chevy Sonic

So I have a few issues with my Chevy Sonic LS, I bought it new in 2015 and the issues have been getting worse and more frequent, the Dealer says nothing is wrong and they will not honour my warranty, basically there's a lot wrong so ill fill it in here and if you can tell me how to get the Dealership to actually believe me

Car: 2014 Chevy Sonic LS 34,000km (21126 Miles), Automatic, 1.8L

1) When stopped after driving for a bit (intermittent) the car will pulsate like its trying to move forward with my foot on the break but it moves your whole body and the RPM gauges fluctuate.

2) Bluetooth consistently says "Thank you Good bye" for no reason, does this with all connected Blue Tooth phones

3) Has a permanent 0.9 Degree tilt to the left (alignment was done and they said this after charging me $250.00) If I hold the steering wheel straight it will pull to the left, if I let go it will drive straight.

4) Constant sound of metal on metal coming from my tires possibly on both sides of the car(bearings?), its more noticeable when driving past walls or in tunnels

5) All the sudden the car Revved to the max and was redlining and wasn't accelerating, I had to shift it into the manual mode to up shift and it jerked violently and went back to normal

6) it will thud sometimes when shifting out of "PARK"

7) Sometimes steam can been seen coming out of the radiator.

8) I randomly lose grip on dry days and tires will squeal and the no traction sign will flash fast.


I have taken the car in for all of these things and they simply tell me nothing is wrong, even went as far as to tell me "GM doesn't pay for us to test these things out so just make sure something is actually wrong next time" and my personal favourite "There is no recalls on your car so you shouldn't be having any problems"

And I am at my wits end with the dealer not helping me I've been a GM owner ever since I started driving I still have my trusty 92 Sierra, but after this I Don't think I'll ever purchase another GM product.... And I love GM

4: notorious front end swaybar endlinks? They make a loose nut in a can sort of noise over small undulations in the road

7: keep an eye on your coolant reservoir...if it goes below "max" on level ground you have a leak...often times it's a pinhole leak in the waterpump...
8: lose as in car surges and you lose?

If it's under warranty (looks like it is)..any other dealers....doesn't have to be Chevy. Any GM dealer will do the work.

1) when driving and still in drive and coming to a complete stop it will do what i described

2) No My Link in the car as it only has blue tooth, auxillary port and a radio.

3) car doesnt lean to one side, but the steering wheel is mis-aligned, if straightened the car will pull quickly to the left, they informed me that they "couldnt fix it" after i spent 250 for an alignment.

4) That may be it

8) Lose as in, im at a complete stop and when i go to move be it turning or going straight the tires will squeal as if im trying to drive fast in the rain but its dry out and the TC light will flash rapidly and i need to come to an almost complete stop for this to go away

I also have a 2014 LS 1.8 liter. I have a few of the same issues. When stopped, mine will try to go forward a little bit. I guess this is common with these cars. I also have the issue with my steering wheel. To keep the car going straight, I usually have to hold the wheel just a little to the left. I thought about getting an alignment or having it checked out, but my tires are wearing even, I have almost 30,000 miles on them and there's still some tread left and no sign that its out of alignment.

I also have the issue with my steering wheel. To keep the car going straight, I usually have to hold the wheel just a little to the left. I thought about getting an alignment or having it checked out, but my tires are wearing even, I have almost 30,000 miles on them and there's still some tread left and no sign that its out of alignment.

Almost exactly like mine, an alignment wont fix it, I paid for one and they said they couldn't fully fix it. I still have great tread about 80% on my tires so it isn't that lol I feel your pain

I've had this happening since the car was a few months old. It's so random the dealer "cannot duplicate" and I've been told unless they can duplicate it, they can't do anything.

3) Has a permanent 0.9 Degree tilt to the left (alignment was done and they said this after charging me $250.00) If I hold the steering wheel straight it will pull to the left, if I let go it will drive straight.

Mine drifts left, too. I'm not sure if there's a tilt, but I constantly have to correct my wheel to not drift over the centerline of the road.

YES! This one drives me nuts. Anyone who rides with me can hear it, too, but no one at the dealership hears it. I've been told to wait until it gets worse. I'm at 31k miles. I want it taken care of while it's still under warranty.

I don't get that thud with mine, but I do get a hard downshift at 24 mph.

I've already had my water pump replaced under warranty, and have a squeal under the hood that may be related. It sounds like a belt or tensioner and is most prominent with the A/C on.

How odd, the same happened to my dealership as well!

No I use it everyday for work 200km/day 5 days a week

I was deployed for about 9 months and the longest it sat for was 2 weeks (Wife drove it for work)

Yeah that's a good thought.

Further more more stuff went wrong with my car again.

This time my radio never came on when the car did and eventually came on but slowly and flickering as it did so

So what is the deal?..if you show your dealer the pic of the dead radio they won't replace it? What solution is being offered ?

Exactly it, if they cant replicate it they wont bother with it or even check it. Luckily GM contacted me in the forum here and is helping me out, they have great customer service, just not the dealer

I would certainly be finding another dealer, or I would be raising Cain. You bought the car with a warranty and it needs to be fixed. I had a similar discussion with the Ford dealer over my 2013 focus that just went out of warranty, the radio was messing up, and I took it in 4-5 times under warranty. They replaced the display screen which did not fix it. One guy in service told me they guessed wrong and they don't want it in there if it's not going to act up(intermittent issue, radio does not come on in the mornings all the time). I basically told him I had the car in 4-5 times for this before the warranty was out, so that was not my problem.
