Squeaking sound and P1101 P0507 codes

Yesterday after filling my gas tank, I was driving home and heard a squeaking noise. Got home and found a loud squeaking noise in the area of the serpentine belt. Also, my idle was rough and gradually became rougher while driving. Engine light on. The codes are P1101 and P0507. I think those sensors are going off down the line as a result of something mechanical failing.

The sound decreased when I applied pressure on the gas pedal.
I took it over to my repair shop to help diagnose the problem.

Does it sound like a bearing had blown out?


I've often wondered what else could go wrong before hitting the 80k mark.

The car has reached close to 77k mileage
Some of the things I've replaced on the car already. I should probably list all of them in my signature. Throttle body, valve cover gasket, transmission, clutch, master cylinder (tranny, clutch, and master cylinder: There was a leak in the master cylinder which destroyed everything downstream. warranty covered it), water pump, water tank (it had hairline cracks at 70k mileage), vapor canister purge valve (had a trouble code for it), all 4 tires, intake air filter, low beam headlight bulbs, O2 sensor (rodent chewed wire) and ignition coil pack.

vacuum leak..

common problem is the rupture disk on the valve cover.. which usually blows due to bad turbo pcv /or pcv on intake ..

take cover off top of engine you will see a round disk on driver side of valve cover.. little square hole.. put finger over it.. if it is sucking air its toast..

Would this also cause the loud squeaking noise near the serpentine belt?

Similar noisy symptoms but not the vacuum leak issue. Should I suggest to my mechanic to check the PCV or just leave him to figure it out?

its not hard to check this part of it yourself.. takes literally longer to topen the hood then anything.. if that rupture disk is toast.. air being sucke din makes weird noises under the hood.. specially if the motor cover is still on..

at idle creates more vacuum... on the throttle.. less vacuum .... probably reason less sound..


but if it is the rupture disk its finding the reason it blew.. most of time its the intake that needs to be replaced since the pcv is internal part of it. but apparently(another thread here) gm issued a recall for some valve covers that the rupture disk was prone to fail.. not sure exact years it covers tho..

I can’t check it myself. In my first posting I said that I sent the car to the repair shop. So the car is not available for me to check that part. My mechanic already replaced the valve cover a while ago because it was leaking oil onto the serpentine belt.

I called my mechanic. He said that the PCV valve was sucking air like crazy. He’s sent someone out to get the part.

The result from the service:

They replaced the valve cover assembly and a vent pipe assembly. The guy I spoke to claimed that the PCV valve is built into the valve cover.

But I know that the reason for the squeaking sound was oil dripping out from the valve cover onto the serpentine belt. Just like the last time when my car had 52,000 miles on it. Now it has 76,833 miles. They said that cruze and sonic turbo engines go through valve covers all the time. Really??

So, now I know what to replace when I hear the squeaking.
They found another trouble code when they scanned the car.
All trouble codes for this repair: P0106, P1101, P0507

That's another $300 down the drain.

What's the next thing to go?

pcv IS NOT built into valve cover.. its a rupture disk to keep engine from exploding in event that pvc in intake or turbo fails.. pressure has to go somewere right?

How does the cover come off? Where is the turbo pcv?
