Water Pump Replacement

Good day

So at 160k miles I am noticing my waterpump is leaking. Has anyone changed theirs out? What I am really looking for is how to remove the pully. Mine looks like it have allen head bolts and with only about 3/4 of an inch between the pulley and the frame. So that removes the possibility for a ratchet. Look slike I might have to cut an allen wrench.

Changed my moms out today. The pully on the 2012 1.8l was T45.
Unloosen with belt on and the top engine mount off. A ratchet will fit between the engine mount bolt and ac lines barely. You'll need to jack up the motor from the engine oil pan to lift the engine to get the pully off. The water pump bolts are E10 they are easy to get at after you get the pully off. Getting the pully back on is a big pain. I could only torque down 2 bolts, the other I had to settle for getting tight as I could with a ratchet only, since my torque wrench head is wide and I didn't want to bend my ac lines. I would suggest using a strap wrench on the pully to hold it once you put the belt back on to make for an easier job to tighten the pully bolts up.
Reason I say that is the pully wanted to move when tightening even with the belt on and holding the crankshaft with a torque bar and pushing down on the drive belt at the same time.

I was able to change mine out. Prob took like 30 mins. Easy job

Rough steps..

Place jack under engine. (Use a piece of wood between jack and motor.

Raise jack enough to contact motor

Remove passenger side engine mount

Jack up motor enough to remove three pulls bolts

Remove pully. (You need to remove the belt prior)

Remove 5/6 bolts holding on pump

Clean mating surface

Install new pump

Reverse above steps


Pretty easy job once you get into it
