Just wondering who's a diesel fan?

I just sold my 05 3500 5 9 this week and I'm having withdraws

But on a bright note I'm working on a ranger/diesel build and I hope this will cure my withdraws when I'm done


So what do you guy like ford/Chevy/dodge?

I'm a huge Cummins fan but I love every diesel and would love a 7.3 power stroke

Please Dont break out in argument about who's is better

Diesel fan here. I was considering a diesel Golf before I bought the Sonic, however two factors made me chose the Sonic: 1. HPFP issues that seem to continue for VW and other makes. 2. Cost vs. benefit and budget. In other words wants vs. needs.

I think the 4.5L Duramax would have been an awesome engine for GM trucks. Not sure why they didnt actually use it.

What I really wanted before getting my Sonic was a car not sold in the US. I wanted a Cruze wagon with a diesel.

I'd look long and hard at a Cruze diesel wagon with a manual. I'd be hard to resist.

I'm down for diesel, I like the Duramax/Allison combo and I would seriously consider stuffing a beefed up Duramax into an older Olds or Buick.

I'm not a fan of a short stroke diesel in trucks the 6.6 is a good choice the 4.5 in the 1500 would have been sweet

My favorite manufacture would have to be Detroit Diesel. The old 2 strokes.




I have thought about trying to source the parts to swap a 4-53 into my truck.

Also very heavy. I think a 4-53T comes in around 1300 pounds. Heavy for a 212 CI 4 cylinder.

I'll put it this way...not a huge fan of Ford trucks (nothing against Ford, but I just don't really like the design and don't know anything about the engines). Curious how the 3.5L Ecoboost is with the F150 though. Know nothing about the diesels they have.

I like GM trucks and if I didn't buy a diesel, I'd get a GM. Styling is nothing great, but it's nice, better than Ford in my opinion.

Dodge is the way I would go with a Cummins. My ex wife works for Cummins. In MN it's the power generation line (generators). Anyway, love the styling of their trucks, my buddy has an 09? (I think) with the Hemi and it's a great truck. I know someone else with a Cummins diesel...don't remember the year or engine. But he works in Montana working oil...so he lives there for 2 weeks, comes home for a week...doesn't pay for diesel ever...one perk for him working oil. So he put a 100 gallon fuel cell in the bed, plus the regular tank. He put a full system in it and he had a little fun with performance as well...can't remember if it's putting out 1200 lb ft of torque or 1400. Awesome truck though.

As for cars...always been a fan of VW TDI's...the reasons I like them...tons of torque especially with a tune....also you know what it will cost to fill up all the time...diesel is so stable price wise compared to gasoline. And when gas is the same price or more than diesel, there's a distinct advantage in fuel economy to get diesel.

I'm interested in Mazda's Skyactiv diesel engine when it starts getting put into everything...I know it will be in the 2014 Mazda 6 along with the CX5 and I haven't confirmed it yet, but I think in the 3 as well. Kind of wish they would keep the Mazda 2 and do something more to it...great little car in terms of handling, but lacks power and mileage isn't all that great considering.

Not sure how interested I would be in the Cruze diesel...guess I would have to see more info on it.

The eco boost is a amazing engine in the 150 and I am a huge Mercedes's diesel fan they make amazing diesels

Unfortunately we probably wont get the wagon or 6 speed manbox as an option.

Wish you could rely on rumors...lol. Would be nice to fill up every 2-3 weeks rather than every week or week and a half.
