Black pillar removed

See we have the matte black handle bar for the rear doors, that match the pillars now ya know. Idk if it will flow odd if the pillars are paint and the handles in back are matte

Yeah, that probably makes a difference then. The rear small window pillar is matte black on the sedan, but it's so small that it's not really noticeable.

I wonder how it would look to change the matte black to the high performance gloss vinyl used to change the bow tie in another thread...just a thought.

I actually did it to my black hatchback and it looks pretty darn close to gloss black. There is some minor texture to the matte black sticker that exists on the pillar, and it does show through the vinyl a bit.

But again - not too bad. From a 20+ feet you can't even tell it's vinyl.

However, I do think I'm going to remove by pillar sticker, and then I think I'm going to vinyl over the rear door handles and that whole weird rear door handle shape thing.

But you have a black car. I think it looks dumb any color but black, so my orange is way out.

I don't know why it took you so long as it came off pretty easily for me. Each door took 2 minutes or less. I got the top peeling (easy to do) and then just pulled with a grip on each side slowly downward. The first one ripped a couple of times, but the next three all came off in one piece. Now it looks MUCH better. After first reading this thread, that matte black tape on my black car was really starting to bug me. Plus, my buddy came over the other night in his black BMW with no tape on the pillars and after seeing that, it sealed the deal for me.

One more thing, after removing the tape, it does leave some sticky residue. The other day before removing the Sonic and LTZ lettering, I picked up can of Turtle Wax Label & Sticker Remover to clean up the residue left behind. It worked great to remove the sticker goo left behind from the black tape, too.

How did you get the tape off from behind the trim around the windows (on the side & bottom)?? I just peeled the one on the driver's door off, starting behind the door, I peeled that flap loose then pulled it towards the window. Now I have this wavy scrap remaining all the way around, stuck in the trim & weatherstripping. Please help, I can't leave the house like this!!

Well now that another black sedan-er had done this, I'm really considering it.
Specially once I get around to getting the windows tinted it should look boss...

Well, I adjusted my technique and got all that stupid tape off the car. It looks so much better! My car is black (sedan), and my windows are tinted super dark, so those matte black stickers stood out like a banana in my pocket! :banana:

I used a heat gun, and it really helped a lot.

i was thinking of doing this to our blue topaz sedan. i think it looks a little off in the hatch, because of the black handle area for the rear doors, but the sedan's do not have this.....hmmmmm...

IDK Smit, I've been thinking about doing this on my Blue sedan as well. IMO it would look good on any sedan but only the dark hatches.

I think I may be jaded in my judgement. Obviously, I have very dark tint, recently measured by the highway patrol at 3%, and the black pillar sort of brings the windows together. I think black would be the only one to look good because it would still bring the windows together.

I have a 2013 Black Granite LT Sedan and the dullness of the panels made the car look really cheap, especially when the rest is shined up and looking beautiful. I cant believe there is shiny glossy beautiful black paint underneath this!!!

I think I am gonna try this on Saturday when I am off work. Woohoo!

anyone have any tips/tricks/advice for doing this. i don't want to start doing this if i'm going to find out it's harder/ more time consuming than i am able to do.

also i have a black hatch and my concern is that the rear handle area will then stick out like a sore thumb. anyone have a pic of a black hatch witth the door pillars removed?!?!?
