Spark jumps in both directions out the electrode to the ground leg and then through the head to the 2nd plug ground to the center electrode and back to the module.

Remember it takes high voltage to jump gaps not Amperage!

Its called "waste spark" and is an oldish system. There are ways to read the ignition event and produce a RPM signal from it. I am trying to remember what it is called and find a link to the part to hook up an aftermarket tach.

I didn't even consider C until it was suggested by Swordsmith, so I threw it up for a pic, and it has now become a very viable option for me.

Good point about light location. That's another variable to add to the decision. I think it would be cool to have it right by 5-5.5k on the tach. So it'll look like the the needle is ringing the bell when it hits.

I would love to yank the stock tach, but I bet it's like a wisdom tooth.
In the sense that it has contains electronics that could effect the wisdom of the ECU if removed.
