So I didn’t know exactly where to post this in because it falls under a lot of categories but I think the engine is the main concern here.
so I know most of the concerns of a moneyshift (I have 2015 1.4l manual RS sedan) but maybe you guys can help me a little more.
So this all started yesterday, I was driving in slow traffic and passed someone at about 73mph(116km/h) and was downshifting to pass someone going slow, went from 5th to 3rd then realized I was already at redline for 3rd so I slammed it into 4th. Come to realize my 4th was 2nd…
To sum it up, I dumped the clutch in 2nd gear for about 1-2 seconds while going appx 73mph(116km/h). Of course I got a CEL along with a “reduced power” light (not underboost), the “service vehicle” light, and TC light (assuming VSC system was shocked from the sudden traction lost) and my clutch pedal was stuck in the floor briefly and slowly built back pressure(I swapped DOT3 for DOT4 fluid). I checked the code and got P16F3 relating to the ECM. I did an ignition cycle on the side of the road and all lights remained. I continued my drive because I was only 2 mins away and the LUV engine is non-interference and once I arrived I turned off my car. 30min later I started it and only CEL remained. Drove it to my service advisor for advice (didn’t get much) and drove it back and drove home at the end of the day. This morning I started my car and all lights are off including CEL but the P16F3 code is still reading on my reader.
I haven’t cleared the codes because I have warranty and if the ECM is shorted then it will be covered regardless.
Is there anything else I should be worried about or check? Could there be any engine damage even though the LUV is a non-interference engine? Am I safer because I get 91 premium gas? I checked for any leaks and there’s nothing (expect a little oil that came out next to the dipstick from the pressure of what I’m assuming was close to 9,000 rpm). Could I have fried the ECM by probably overcharging the alternator from the rpm jump?
Thank you in advance for any help or advice!
