Hey y'all, I'm maybe looking to get this basic tune from BNR soon, but have some questions. First, it says that no CELS will be cleared after installing tune, my question is will CELS pop up just right after or maybe down the line? Second, will any techs be able to see or detect the tune easily if I go to the dealership for any warranty work, because I still have a long way to go on it? Third, will my car pass CA smog inspection with it? I wanna finally get tuned from all the rave I hear about it on here, but I really don't need to spend the extra $ for the "Plus" version since I don't plan on further modifying anything else on my car. Also, now I've heard there's some problems with this new version, if so what are they exactly? I'd like to be fully informed before I do this major mod, thanks in advance for all the help & knowledge, I appreciate any feedback!

no CELs will be thrown for the tune itself, and it's damn near invisible to the techs at the dealer. it will pass smog as well, assuming you have a stock exhaust system.

Cool, sounds good, but I do have a custom straight pipe cat-back exhaust that I just got installed. I still have all the stock exhaust pipes/parts in front of that though, so it should be no problem right? The muffler shop told me it'll pass smog since I didn't mess with any of the cats or downpipes, just be careful with the noise that's all. I'm very happy cuz it can be very loud at certain times (gears/RPM related of course), reminds me of a badass rally car whenever I autostart it too!

as long as you didn't mess with the catalytic converters, you'll be fine for smog.

Yeah my "cats" are still purrin' lol! Anyways, I just ordered the tune earlier today & was wonderin' how long it'll take to ship here in CA cuz boy, I'm super excited now! Also, after the tune will I have to always fill up on premium (91 OCT) to get the very best performance? I really want a good mix of max power & MPG's, you know what I mean (that's why I'm gettin' it in the first place & besides, that's what it advertises)! I usually just use regular (87 OCT) & would hate to always pay the higher gas prices. But...I guess you gotta pay to play huh...****!

Like I mentioned earlier, any complaints on this new updated tune, hopefully it's worth every hard-earned penny!

Many have found getting better mpg using premium when compared to using regular. Many but a few have found no difference. Keep in mind this engine was designed for the European market (which seems to use a high octane) and detuned for the North American market because we living here can not countenance using premium in an economy car. I have always used premium in my Sonics so can not say based on my own experience, but tuned or not, I would not run regular in a forced induction engine.

Hey, so how long approx. does it take for BNR to at least ship your tune if you just bought it, cuz I've called & left a message and emailed them about it but got no response, is this normal for them to do this cuz it's the very first item I've ever bought from them. Oh ok, jus wonderin' cuz I was worried they forgot 'bout me or somethin' (didn't know that they had to still get the tune from TRIFECTA, thought they already had it there). Also, do they really email you the tune cuz I thought it's already loaded onto the red EZ loader cable I'm getting shipped? If I knew it took so long to get then I would've ordered it a long time ago, as you can plainly see I want it badly lol!

It's a file sent in a email, you download the file and open it in the ez flash software and use the red cable to connect your car to your computer.

Oh, so that's how it all works huh, fuq da wait is gonna kill me tho lol! My laptop is an older model but it has Windows Vista Home Basic so it should be fine right? Da tune advertisement mentions you need Windows Vista or higher, jus wanna be absolutely sure cuz it's my only computer! Also, how big is the tune download (email) & how much memory will I need to save it? Reason I ask is cuz I have hella sh*t stored on my laptop right now & my hard drive ain't that large to begin with, hmmm...

Sh*t, if it ain't one thing it's another with this damn tune! After I finally got it to download/save onto my laptop, the red Trifecta EZ-Flash cable does't want to detect my car. I've tried many times, many different ways, but still no luck. They said it was a driver issue but my com said everything's fine, so now I'm stuck without tuning again. Please any help will be much appreciated!

Damn, finally I get this sh*t to work! Oh man, does it transform the car or what (I think that's an understatement lol)! Now I can't seem to ever get enough of the extra power (the boost is very addicting)! Now I actually look forward to driving around, but I now get crappy mpg's (oh well, gotta pay to play I guess). Losing full manual mode control sucks though, but now I ain't afraid to race anyone foolish enough to try hahaha!!! Like y'all said, this is the best mod you can do to this 'lil 1.4T, it fuqin' pulls like a beast now, I'm very happy with the results!
