2015 Chevy Sonic RS with less than 30K miles has a drawn out squeak after engine shut off

I've had this car for 2 weeks now and really enjoy it. However, since getting it, it has developed a squeak that is hard to trace.

1. Squeak not present after cold start
2. Can't hear inside car
3. Gets worse as car is used
4. Barely there when warm and sitting idle
5. Makes a drawn out squeak after engine is shut off. Sounds like it's coming from drivers side of car.
6. Checked spark plugs and all were tight
7. No air from PCV bladder vent
8. When oil cap or dip stick are removed, engine suffers power loss and has rough idle. Also whistles. Power restored once oil cap and dipstick are put back in.

I've got a new valve cover and PCV live coming from autozone, but I suspect maybe the front crank seal is leaking? Car has less than 30K on it. Any thoughts on this? TIA!

Spray a bit of water on the v-belt (fan belt) and see if that stops it. If it does then your belt is worn and needs to be replaced

Thanks for the reply! Since making this post, I've done a bunch of research and self diagnosis and have the noise pinned down to somewhere within the belt drive. I can say the PCV system is not involved nor are the spark plugs. The squeal is more of a chatter and fluctuates in frequency and volume with AC compressor. Here are a couple videos of the noise. Note, I did not cycle the AC in either one.

It kind of sounds like a shot pulley.

If possible, take the v-belt off and give each pulley a spin. It should spin freely, easily and smoothly. And grinding or wobble will cause that.

Likely the idler puller because if you put your AC on, it adds strain on the belt which in turn strains the pulleys.

Idler pulleys are the most common to fail

Sounds like it is on the passenger side . . . .
Yup . . sounds like an idler belt pulley bearing or possibly alternator bearing.
Water pump? ?? ?

Never rule out a new part. You'd be surprised how often new parts cause problems.

I tried taking a look, but didn't realize engine mount needed to be removed first. Car is due for an oil change, so I'll have the chevy dealer check it out. I've got an extended warranty on the car as is.

Is there a way to get at belt tensioner w/o taking half the car apart? All I want to do is slip belt off so I can check pulleys before car goes to dealer Wednesday. I have searched for videos on YouTube and there isn't jack but one or two videos on replacing serp belt.

Dropped car off at dealer today. Found out not only is the idler pulley making noise, but they found one of the camshaft seals making noise, too. Luckily, all covered by the 100 day warranty. Should have it back Thursday sometime.

Got the car back Thursday afternoon and no more chatter/squeak! Good thing for the warranty, repairs would have cost me around $800!

Silver Creek through Carvana. It's only a 100 day warranty.
