2015 sonic 1.4t trans not servicable?

So over the last few weeks I have noticed that 1st to 2nd gear grinds at higher rpms and 2nd to 3rd in varies at rpms so I contacted my dealership as I have a lifetime powertrain warranty through them and they told me today that due to the transmission that is in the car that it has worn synchros and that's it would need to just be replaced all together due to they cant service it??

So my question is does this sound correct not able to change out the necessary parts internally?

Yep, transmissions are very expensive to rebuild and cost wise it's probably just cheaper to get it replaced. And trust me you want it replaced rather than them rebuild it. It would take them forever to rebuild it if the did do it. And you're probably getting a rebuilt what anyways.

How many miles on the car? Just curious, I’ve got a 2015 too (but 1.8L/5sp), thanks.

86k miles I’ve had it since 30k was on it , not always grinding just becoming more frequent I drove kind of hard as is and deal with stop and go traffic, but I don’t know how it was driven for the first 30k miles so everything is getting warrantied out and I’m gonna have them throw a new clutch in there as well.

Welcome to the M32 issue. You can service them, rebuilding them costs $200 worth of bearings and the time it takes to pull it and rebuild. The transmissions are cheap and plentiful enough to just swap one out. I would get the new one from the factory. No point in trusting some kid to do a rebuild properly.

Yeah I hear ya there , currently gonna cost me 400 dollars for a mistake of not taking off my short shifter prior to going into the dealership so to maintain my lifetime power train warranty through the dealership I bought it from it’s an expensive mistake lol but full trans replacement is happening and while I’m at it I’m gonna have the clutch done since a it opened up already.
