3rd gear feels like its going to pop out but doesn't.

When I'm in 3rd gear and get passed 2000 rpm and let go off the gas I can feel like the shifter moves a little. It jerks a little. But doesn't pop out of gear. Is this normal? Do other people get this to?

Shifter popping out problem I had was nothing like this. Here's how it worked. Put shifter into third, release clutch, shifter moves to neutral. Not wiggles, not sometimes, not maybe, but solidly, definitively, every time, boom.

Speed didn't matter, revs didn't matter, car was going into neutral without so much as a by your leave or a thank you ma'am.

Only in third, mind you, any other gear was fine.

Mine was the same way as Swordsmith's, except it popped out of second.

Take it to the dealer.

As Eric said it's normal and does it in every gear.

The reason is the engine and trans rock forward and backwards as power is added or taken away (on the throttle, off the throttle).

This rocking is transferred thru the shifter cables to the shifter.

After installing solid motor mounts the shifter stopped moving around unless I was shifting gears.

yep.. going through this issue at this very moment.. sigh.. only 6000 miles and already having transmission issues.. what did you have to do to fix it? just replace the transmission completely?

Is there a common # in your VIN? Maybe a bad batch of trannys or parts? Last 8 or so are vehicle specific.

I have been having trans problems with my RS, but it was for like a crunching noise it never popped out of gear. GM is actually replacing my transmission.
