6 Speed Automatic Transmission

We have had the Sonic for a couple of weeks . So far I am satisfied with the automatic .

My wife can not drive a manual , so that was a non starter .

I liked to shift through the gears , when I was younger . I am an old man now and I had rather select Drive and go . So , I will leave the manual transmissions to you young Pups .

Ok... no shame in automatics these days. You can still put it in manual mode and select gears..

You do not have to feel old.

I'm not exactly young (58 y.o.) and I get a kick out of driving a Sonic with a 6MT. So much fun. It's my first manual transmission car in over twenty years. However getting an automatic is not a cop out if it shifts smoothly and behaves as expected. Unfortunately I think many modern automatic transmissions are over-engineered, perform erratically, and fail before their time. Having said this, I have no reason to believe the 6AT in the Sonic is subpar.
