Hi!
(first time posting, sorry if this isn't the correct thread.)
I have a 2013 chevy sonic, and have had nothing but issues from it since May of this year. I'll try to keep it as short as possible, but will provide more information if requested. So, the issues happened as follows
- car started idling rough.
-took it to a mechanic who said nothing was wrong with it.
-continued to drive it, issues got worse. It started jerking after I filled it up with gas.
-took it to a different mechanic, who said the rough idle could be the PCV valve. (he refused to change it.)
- on the way home from that mechanic, the car over heated, started blowing black smoke, and stuttered. (it didn't completely die)
- we replaced the pcv valve (cover), the radiator fan assembly, coolant reservoir (it had a leak), and spark plugs.
-ran great for a couple days, then while taking it up hill it revved high, would not shift gears, started stuttering and then blew white smoke.
-took it to the dealership, they replaced the evac valve.
-on the way home from the dealership, it started kicking/knocking. It felt like it was shifting gears really hard, but it would happen 3-4 times randomly. terrain and speed didn't matter.
- on the drive back to the dealership the next day, it stuttered and blew white smoke again while going up hill and needed to be towed back.
- they kept it for a month and couldn't find anything wrong with it.
-took it to a second mechanic who said there are some intermittent issues but he cannot figure out what is going on.
Current issue: I got it back and it hasn't stuttered or blown smoke, but it is idling roughly, and stuttering randomly. When I drive slow (under 45 mph) it looses power fast, even though I am increasing pressure on the gas. After I push it so far it will kick into a higher gear and shoot forward all of a sudden, but it will rev hard and not down shift until I let off of the gas completely.
Any ideas on what the issue/s could be? I appreciate any guesses or insight!
