Ac not working/engaging.

So in winter I noticed the ac was constantly turning on for defrosting the windows. I know they say it helps but I think it hurt mpg. So I pulled the fuse for the ac clutch. Now I plugged it back in and it won't blow cold. I check the freon pressure and its a perfect 40. Any ideas? The ac clutch can't be bad can it? The car only has 66k

My wife's 2012 1.8 auto sedan with 41,000 miles also has developed this problem. I checked static low side pressure; appears to be sufficient to allow clutch activation. I haven't checked connections, fuses or relays.

This vehicle has not given us any problems until just recently. Within the last three weeks, it has refused to release the key from the ignition switch, had a split outlet duct, (air cleaner to throttle body), and no AC clutch activation.

I have resolved all three issues myself. The outlet duct that prematurely deteriorated, I repaired. The key that wouldn't release from the ignition; I cleaned and lubricated the mechanism, and the AC compressor that wouldn't engage had a micro relay that wouldn't energize. The wife no longer will be badgering me about her broken vehicle.

I've been a product support tech in auto, ag, and turf equipment for much of my adult life; this helps me to be able to diagnose and repair most issues that I encounter by myself.

Hmm not sure if any of that helps. I've swapped the micro relay with high beams and its still good. Checked all fuses and they're good. Ac clutch is engaging but no cold air. Cabin filter is good. Freon pressure still 40. What else am I missing?

A good way to determine if the AC is functioning is to feel the low pressure; larger diameter refrigerant tubing, while the compressor is running. It should be quite cold to the touch, and will have moisture condensed on its surface if it's humid outside. If it is indeed cold, the system is functioning properly. If warm air is still being discharged from the outlets; one of the control doors that direct airflow isn't operating, that is controlled by the HVAC controls on the dash.
