Did a search, didn't find anything...also don't know where to put this, so "general" it is. Too many places it might go, none that are really suitable...so forgive the stupidity of placement if your goat is got.
Anyway...I'm wondering if anyone here has attempted to install CC on their own car. I called my local GM dealer and they don't do it, but they let this independent guy into their shop as a service to install on cars without it (1.8l manual 2012 Sonic - if it wasn't obvious), but I'm looking at $612 after taxes. Ouch! I looked around online (not much yet) and found a brand called Rostra at The Cruise Control Store (catchy name) - this one 250-9619 2012-2015 Chevy Sonic Complete Cruise Control Manual transmission - The Cruise Control Store
And their little video looks like it would actually be easy enough to install. I'm not averse to trying stuff like that, been installing car stereos (when it was in vogue) since I had my first car (i.e. 30+ yrs ago because I'm old(er) now and could give 2 ships about aftermarket sound systems - but I digress) and doing all sorts of house renos without paying some contractor mega bucks to put up drywall or do wiring when a trained monkey can do it for free (being me).
So a multi part question I guess.
Anyone ever tried it? Did it work awesome for you? Was it as easy as pie? (pie is easy...I love pie.)
Is this a good brand? Know where I can get it for less?
Is there one that is better?
Anyone got some Ghandi-style advice for me?
I'm in Canada...which means anything I buy from the US means I have to add 40+% to the price. I checked with a friend of mine who works at a part store up here, and his price to me (no idea what brand) was $528 - uh, no thanks.
TIA! opcorn:
