Aftermarket Springs vs Stock RS Springs

I am thinking of getting the Eibach springs but I know the RS is lowered already, I think? Should I replace them or just keep it stock?

They are lowered more than the RS lowering.

But of course they are closer to Eibach than the other trims, so you're getting less lowering for your money. It's up to you to decide if the additional lowering is worth the money to you.

You spent enough to get an RS so I'm guessing money matters less to you than it does to someone cheap like, say, me.

I am running the RS suspension on my sedan and the only reason I am going to swap in Eibach springs is for the drop and that's it. For a street car they RS suspension is great, I would save the money if your happy with it's ride height and handling and if you want another 1" or so drop and a little tighter ride toss in the Eibach's.

Thanks for the info laborsmith. To clarify, you wouldn't go lower than stock RS, or wouldn't go lower than the Eibach springs?

Would not go lower than the Eibachs on the RS dampers.

The front is dropped 1.6" and the rear 1.4" compared to the LT.

Perhaps on coilovers go 1.6" on the rear but no lower on the front.

But that is just me; others have and in the future will go lower. Just not me.

Depends on your financial situation and patience. If the coilovers aren't a huge purchase and you can save up for them in several months I'd say wait and buy a set of coilovers.

If C/O are a massive almost out of reach purchase I'd recommend eibach springs. You'll be happy with them.

If I recall correctly Laborsmith has run both springs and C/O, he'd be a good person to PM for advice.

Have not run C/Os. Beside the expense, there are too many choices. I need to keep things simple.

I had Pedders lowering coils on the LT and Eibach on the RS. The Pedders are as firm but not as harsh as the Eibachs. That said, I am as happy with the Eibach springs as I was with the Pedders.

Why didn't I stick with Pedders? Try to get a set of Pedders lowering coils and after you meet with the same success as I did when looking for a set for the RS then you will have my answer.

Pedders coil overs have a stellar reputation in the muscle car market, which has every maker of coil overs competing for market share; not just the few manufacturers competing for their share of the Sonic market, but another half dozen.

If you are seriously thinking about coil overs I would say save your pennies, skip the lowering springs, and go directly to the coil overs because you will not be happy with the lack of adjusting that comes with lowering coils.
