Looking for some input regarding subs in the 2013 LTZ hatchback (aka 5 door)

Which is the better facing direction? Up, forward, rear?

I've read several different things, most point to a individual preference or by music selection.

Since I listen to most everything I'm looking to see what people think...

Mostly I play either dubstep or hip-hop, but I still go back to rock n roll.

I personally will be ditching the spare soon, to drop in a fiber glass box with a 10" sub. I still am trying to retain what space i have in the back hence going with a fiber glass box buried. I am leaning towards Image Dynamics 10, they use very little air space so I should have plenty off room for a small enclosure. And my sub design would be facing upward.
I think you really wanna take a hard look at what space you have to devote to a sub and how much trouble you want to deal with either moving it out when needing to load bigger things or having things sit above when traveling.

sounds like a sick build, would to see if you get it done.

I designed 2 boxes, each housing a Pioneer 10" sub. Between the subs I have my amp placed on a rack (or at least it will be by this weekend) and the hatchback cargo cover (so no one can see the cargo space when the door is closed) covers those nicely. Both boxes will be wired together (2 4 ohm SVC subs wired for 2 ohn to mono block amp, it think that called series? maybe parallel?)I have yet to fire them up for one major reason:

Remote turn for the amp. Since I'm using the LOC-80 to tap in the RCA without replacing the MyLink touchscreen (which I like) I need to figure out whether the factory MyLink has a remote turn on OR run it to the fuse box (which I kinda dread, I have not had good luck with that in the past.

Suggestions?

BTW I am also planning on putting a cut-out rocker switch on that line so as not to piss off the Audio nazis security force at my workplace....

I have in the past, tapped onto the Acc line feeding into the radio, I ran it to a relay that I used to turn the amp on and off with the car. I havent dug into the wiring diagram for the stock unit to maybe use a wire coming out for maybe the antenna. I know some one was super nice and did post up the wiring diagram for the head unit already..

Series is when you put +,- together, one from each sub and then the remainder - off one sub and + from the other sub are wired to the amp, Parallel is when you take both - from each sub and place on - out on amp and same for the +. Holy crap its been awhile... I believe series will drop impedance and parallel doubles it?

Still trying to nail down what speakers I want to use...im thinking of taking my Focals 6,4 tweet from my S-10 and dropping those into the sonic...I also use to have Diamond Audio, Hex series in my Honda that I absolutely loved....I cant wait to start tearing this car down and dynomating the hell out of it

I also plan on keeping my stock deck, I like it. It has everything I want and works great with my current phone.

see same thing! I like the build Sonic has as factory, no need for me to go out and spend money I could use for other things...

I haven't been able to locate that wiring diagram yet, but I'm still sifting through the forums.

As for series vs parallel, I'm parallel for sure. Its been awhile for as well and had to go to crutchfield to remember which one was which.

are you saying you've tapped the power line to the radio with the remote? With the Mylink the screen is always on, so I assume the ACC line will be not the choice...

Now is the antenna powered with the radio off/in USB/Bluetooth/line in modes?

I've read several webpages and this forum to say use the cig lighter for the remote power...call me stupid but I only have wired aftermarket HUs so this is ground breaking for me.

just a FYI for you.

Much gratitude for that. I was able to get the LOC installed, subs ran (too easy) and wired the remote turn on through the fuse for the cig lighter ( I'm a smoker but I haven't used one for a long time, and don't smoke in the car anyways)

Now I still have yet to see what people think about which direction the subs should face...

Mine are currently facing up, and will be fine tuning tonight and seeing where all the rattles are (found a bunch with a simple 40Hz test last night).

Depends on what kind of sound you are looking for. Usually angled toward the hatch is better. Just play around with it until you find which one you like.

I usually face mine towards the back of the car.
It seems to give better bass extension (lower notes).
