Any Honda people in the house?

So need help trouble shooting.

Car: 94 accord 2.2 sohc
199k miles

Problem: hard time going over 3k rpm

Other: Through a p0420 code (cat efficiency) and was over heated (shortly) all around the same time.

Ideas?


My thought: cat is clogged

Yes, likely that is it.

If the cat is cogged and there is sufficient back pressure, you will have to be concerned about the stuff that is clogging the CAT getting sucked back into the engine.

Don't run it further get the cat off and see if that resolves the issue

Same thing happened to my mother in law's Lincoln Continental - I took it to a muffler shop, had them just chop the piece out and weld in a straight pipe. Its still quiet since its got the mufflers still.

and yes it sounds like your cat is clogged. Possibly melted then fused into a giant lump
