I'm eventually going to get a CAI for my 1.4T, but I want to go with a dry option. So far the options I've seen are the ZZP intake (oiled filter) and the redneck K&N do-it-yourself option (oiled). Is anybody making a dry filter system with heat shield yet?
You can do the RNI with anyones Dry filter. Or flip the extra cost of adding a dry filter to one of the available kits. Until AEM sales one I don't think we will see a complete dry filter option from a manufacturer.
Except it takes its metal pipe right over the engine. I would not recommend Injen, and suggest you go with ZZP or DDMWorks instead and replace the filter. That's just me though.
If you contact Dave at DDM I'm sure he can either ship with another filter or maybe work a deal on the tube and shield by itself. Jerry would be a great point of contact to see if ZZP will do the same (minus the DDM heat shield).
Injen tube would be fine I it came ceramic coated to protect it from super heatin the air. I heard it really doesent matter much in a turbo car, the intercooler effiency is where the heat is beat or not.
But super heating air going in doesn't help the inept drooled do its job either. They also have wraps for intakes but I think the point is people aren't keen on buying something that needs coated or wrapped to reduce the effects of a perceived (if not real) problem.
