Anyone ever get stripes put on their car professionally?

Hey guys! I decided I wanna put black matte stripes on my silver sonic sedan. I was wondering if anyone has ever had decals/stripes put on their car professionally and if so how much did you pay? I would be ordering pre-cut stripes that are designed to fit the sonic so they would not have to cut the vinyl themselves. The guy I usually go to for body work said he would put the stripes on for 200 dollars. Is this an okay deal or would I be getting ripped off?

OK at first blush I think that's a crazy high price.

They are going to do what, clean the surface, lay the stripes in nice and tight and remove all bubbles, maybe give it a nice wax job over top, and send you on your way?

I got all windows except the front tinted, with them using their own materials and having to custom cut to fit, for just over a hundred. Can putting stripes on really be twice that hard, particularly since you are supplying the pre-cut stripes?

Checking my local chevy dealer for somethign similar; I find a decal/stripe package, we're talking five pieces, both sides, roof, hood, and rear, the stripes cost an amazing $300 but they will install them for $200 more. That's five pieces, for the price you're talking about, and it's at the dealer, which is never much of a bargain.

Unless these guys plan to ride on your hood and hold the stripes in place wherever you go, I'm thinking they are taking You for a ride.

Never had it done myself though, I have to admit; my idea of how to put stripes on my car involves some duck tape and an Xacto knife

I think thats about right. Ive gotten alot of vinyl work done. If its good quality vinyl it isnt cheap. And if they are installing it and warrentying it i think its a decent deal.

The quality of the vinyl doesn't matter since she's supplying it, the only issue is the cost of installation. And I doubt they will be warrantying it since it isn't their vinyl. So we're talking simply the install cost. If $200 is a decent deal for vinyl plus installation plus warranty, I'm guessing that means it's an indecent deal for install alone?

If its just install I would say bad deal for sure.

I was talking to TheFallenAngel and he said his stripes cost about 120$ to be put on.
