Anyone know why my odo isnt showing up?

So I got a new battery in my car a few weeks ago now, and since then ( as you can obviously see above) my odo and trip computer won't work and I'm not sure why. Before anyone thinks the guy that changed it did something wrong, he didn't. It was a simple unscrew the connectors, take the battery out,red crew connectors and drive off. Since the day I left the trip computer and odo won't read. I get my odo readings from OnStar who keep track of it apparently. So anyone knows what could have gone wrong?

I'm wondering if when you changed the battery it reset the system and the system needs to be flashed in order to refresh it. The other thing it could be is a software update at your dealer. Either way I would take it to your dealer to have them refresh the system.

I was thinking the same thing considering that the only thing thats not showing up is the odo and trip computer. Everything else is fine though. Thanks for that.

We'll have not had that experience, however yesterday in the odo mileage area it read CODE then 82

Never saw before but it was for low oil life! At 5%. Called GM and they did not know what it was but called me back 10 minutes later and told me.

Yea always remember error code 82 is code for an oil change. Once its changed it will go away. Just always keep track of your oil life.

I had this happen. Went to a couple of different dealers and they couldn't figure out why it wasn't working because it wasn't throwing any codes. Finally I took it to a dealer that called GM when they couldn't figure it out and ultimately they had to replace the whole cluster. It has been about 3 weeks or so and still works fine.

Unplug negative terminal for ~15 minutes...clear any "old" data??

If you drive does it record miles? Maybe you had your odometer zeroed for free.

I assume its not on the trip meter or something. Do those work if you twist thru the display options?

I know is not good to revive old thread but...
I have the same issue my cluster shows "---" for ODO or TRIP mileage, did you ever knew how to fix it??
I tried the simple methods like disconnecting the battery or pulling certain fuses for a few minutes and that didn’t work at all.

Same issue here. Stealership wants $700 just to diagnose, repair and labor fees are on top of that. Need a fix, this is terrible

Same issue here. The dealer wants to replace the IC for $600. I refused. I think it still is counting the mileage as the distance to empty is always accurate.

Verify oil life is not below 5%, my 13 showed a code for need oil change but logic may have changed. If in doubt reset oil life monitor.

Disconnect the negative battery lead for at least 1 hour or even over night. Then, when you reconnect it. . . make sure you do it quickly and with no Jiggling but and quick assertive connect and tighten it completely

Turn the ignition key ON to start but do NOT start and wait for 15 seconds. Turn the key OFF for 15 seconds. Turn key back ON to start. . . wait 15 seconds then start and see if odometer is back.

Thought I'd stop in and share some updates since I had a cheap opportunity to get my cluster checked out at the dealership near me.

Long story short, this will require a reprogram to the cluster and isn't something a parts swap will fix (although in some cases if the cluster was shorted you may need a parts swap AND the reprogram). They said it would be about $400. That amount of money for a part that isn't required for normal day to day operations just doesn't justify the price to me.
