Howdy all,
If this is in the wrong thread, forgive me, I'm new here.
Long story short: Just purchased a 1-owner 2013 Sonic RS Turbo w/ 6-spd Man. Had local auto shop look it over before purchase and they found oil on the bottom of the pan indicating a leak. This is what they told me it "could" take to repair it. (along with price quotes)
"Oil pan gasket ($150)
VVT's ($450)
Oil Filter gasket & Turbo O-Rings ($400)
Intake ($600)"
I'm semi familiar with some of these things as I used to own a 2005 5-spd Colorado I-5. But seeing as I'm unfamiliar with the Sonics (and never owned a turbo) I'm at a loss!
1. Why are there so many different types of oil pan gaskets to choose from on AutoZone's website and which is right for me?
2. What's a "VVT"?
3. Doesn't the oil filter actually have 2 gaskets, a larger rim and smaller O-gasket?
4. What are Turbo O-Rings (do they go by a different name) and where are they located?
5. What part of "Intake" would have to deal with an oil leak?
Thanks in advance!
