Bad horn

So a few years ago my wife, who owns the sonic, drove through some water. Not a few feet but didn't flood her car and actually parked in someone's driveway to avoid further damage. The car and engine was perfectly fine except the horn. Obviously the horn had water in it so it sounded weird then went out completely. I replaced the horn with a new one and it worked for awhile and now it doesn't work at out. I bought the Cruze horn and tried to change it out but that didn't work either. Don't think the horn is the problem, I think it's a wiring issue or something. The fuse is fine and when you push the horn I hear clicking in fuse box so relay is fine as well. Is there a ground for the horn I should maybe look for that could be causing na issue or could it be electrical? Any ideas on a fix since I will have to get the car inspected next year. If you have a multimeter, take a reading at connectors when someone presses the horn. Take it from there. If you get 12v then the Cruze horn is a dud.
If you dont, then you can start tracing back to see where the issue is

Which is exactly what I thought about doing just need to buy a meter to do it. Hopefully the Cruze horn isn't bad because I got that a few years ago and just barely opened it.

So small update, I put the Cruze horn onto a 19volt drill battery which was way to much and let's just say the horn works and my ears don't anymore lol. I ordered a meter so I'll be able to test the wiring to see if it's getting the 12 volta

I’d trace the wires to the horn. You mention water damage. It’s possible fuse or relay or bad clock spring/pressure switch in steering wheel. But after a flood drive. Could be a bad ground. If she had to park in somebody’s driveway to avoid additional water. Trace the wires make sure their clean. And yes take a voltmeter to it. But it working on a 9 volt says it works.

Also the only thing she noticed after flood water was the horn. How much she use it . Jk. DOT Item so you wanna fix it. I’d trace wires make sure contacts are clean and snug then chase a relay or fuse.

So I put the meter on the horn wiring and I'm getting 12.7 volts to it. I still hear clicking when I press the horn. The Cruze horns works for sure since I put 12 volts and I even cleaned the contacts. Tried looking for a ground but no luck.

And not sure if there is a relay for it since all I see is a 15amp fuse but what makes the actual clicking sound? I. Thinking about ordering a new horn setup and seeing if that will work since I need a horn ASAP

Strange turn of events, this morning going to work as I entered the freeway I pressed the horn a few times and it worked. It is also a little cooler outside compared to what it has been so now I'm stuck.

So now my horn works and I installed the Cruze horn and that sounds like crap. One tone is louder then the other. I'll keep honking it to see if it changes but I think I'm going to buy a new set of horns and wire those.

Perhaps get a set of Hella dual tones?

Lol you got a little gremlin in the wiring or something. At least it’s working. That’s rule number 1. Lol
