Bad wastegate solenoid?

I'm experiencing the following problem:
Before starting the engine and just by turning key to ON position the wastegate solenoid next to the wastegate and under the turbo intake hose starts clicking hard.
Here's a video of the sound. (don't be fooled the engine is off, it's just heard by turning the key to ON position)

The thing is that if it's defect it might be the culprit for my p1101 pending codes and boost drops I'm experiencing since months now and I cant get to the bottom of it..
Should the solenoid click or not? Is it a clear sign that it's defect when it clicks?
Do you have the same cliking sound on your cars or not?

mine doesn't do that... with the engine not running, there's shouldn't be any noise beside the fuel pump priming and the HVAC fan if it's on...

Weird... can you find a replacement?

Hi and thanks for replying.

The funny thing is that it doesnt stop no matter how long I let the key to ON position.
So it's probably a problem....
Tomorrow I'm going to the dealer for the 20000 km service.
We'll see what he has to say and if it's related to the p1101 pending codes.....!!

I seem to be able and find a replacement on ebay but I'll wait for the dealer's opinion on the matter...

My dealer would look at the video and say I am wrong..they are always trying make me feel stupid.
You may want to replace it even if it not causing your codes..

can you unplug it? then plug it back in...still do it? Sounds like it's stuck and a new one is needed...

Brought it in today and still waiting for the outcome...

I pointed the specific noise out before I left to go to work and they told me it should do it just for a few secs and then normally stop, it's kind of a self test according to them. Mine never stops, so it has to be a defect. We'll see.....

I'll update when I get the car back.
