Baking Headlights?

Searched but couldn't find a decent answer :\ Has anyone tried to bake their headlights to get the housing apart yet? Any recommendations to temp or time? I'm doing my fogs first then my headlights next week.

somebody on here did. they did there tail lights. I cant remember who it was but I will search around see if I can find it for you.

Touch base with Beastlick. It looks like he had to do some cutting to get the lenses off for his projector retrofit.

I had no luck baking. I tried 150 deg for 10, another 10. Then tried 165 for 15 and still no luck. It caused more damage than anything. The black plastic was bending and the seal was still not budging. I ended up using a cut-off wheel very close to the seal. I resealed with 3 layers of silicon on the seam. I only had 1 issue w moisture and it was in the headlight i tried baking. I forgot to put silicon in the damaged plastic areas. I have no moisture problems anymore.

I baked a tail light. No good. It's not epoxied. It's hot plastic fused together. You are better off cutting them open with a zip disc.

Sorry for not getting back with everyone for a bit. Yeah I see what you mean though, it does look more like plastic. Do think cutting and using silicone is going to be noticeable on the final product?
