Both the engine and transmission were recently replaced. They both run and perform perfectly. After that, the car wasn't starting. It now has a new starter, alternator, and battery. Took it back to the shop that installed the engine/trans. They had a different mechanic trace all the lines to make sure nothing was loose/missing. They also had a programmer come out to check all the computers. The only thing that was abnormal: the tran module (transferred from original trans) did not have the VIN programmed. That has since been updated. The battery sensor was reprogrammed. They started this thing at least 3 dozen times before turning the keys over to me.
Took it home, shut it off, it wouldn't start. I put a trickle charger on it. At 13.5V, it started up. With all accessories on, voltmeter was ready 14.5. I drove it for 15 min on roads, 30 min on the highway, land let it idle for 10 in between all that. No accessories (no even radio or phone were plugged in/on during the drive). Got it home, parked it in the garage and shut it off. I tried to start it after about a minute. Won't start. Battery was reading 12.6.
Trickle charge on with it up to 13.2, I went to check fuses to see if that could be a problem. About 2 min with the driver door open (I keep the back seat light off) and the battery dropped down to 12.85.
There seems to be a gremlin draining power faster or possibly preventing the battery from charging. Once the car starts, it runs great. No hindered performance.
Please give me some ideas. I am a student 6 months from graduation, and I cannot afford a new car. I have too much tied up in this one. I feel like this could be tied to the original engine implosion or miscommunication between computer and new engine, but they had a programmer come out and he couldn't find any abnormalities. Any help would be appreciated.
