What is your solution for putting a bike carrier on the car? Are most of us going with hitchmount, bumper mount, or roof rack?

We already have a hitchmount carrier in the garage but it seems like putting weight that far off the back bumper would mess up handling on such a light car. The carrier plus 3 bikes could get up close to 150 lbs.

A roof rack would be nice, but the only mount options I've seen that seem robust are through-drilled, and that seems invasive.

Which brings me to bumper-mount. Not a bad option, but it limits use of the hatch, and the fear of cracking the back window in an unfortunate event (I've done it before, don't ask.)

Which way are all of you other bike riders going?

I plan on getting the hitch mount. Easy on, easy off, no pressure on the glass. From my research, weight stress from bike mounts aren't much of a problem

I am on Eibach springs as well. The car is not squatting from weight that much.

I have a hitch and rack as well. I can feel it back there when you get 2 bikes on the rack. I would put a general rule as 2 bikes for any distance and maybe 3 bikes for short distances.

It's not on their site anymore but I've seen several pics of hatches with them. Deffiantly something I want to do in the future since my bike wont fit in the hatch

I have the same setup as palmaris. I do wish there was a way to increase shock damping in the rear...with 2 bikes and some gear, the rear end gets bouncy.

I also find that with <1 bike, using a strap attached to the top of the liftgate helps a lot.
