Broken antenna

I was pulling into my garage the garage door wasn't all the way up. Boom antenna goes flying. Can I order just the antenna? Or do I need the thing that it sits on. Also a piece of the antenna is stuck. Need some advice.

wow. the antenna is getting a lot of attention today. someone posted about breaking the antenna a while back. I'll tell you the same thing I told him. Go to the hardware store and get a decent set of screw extractors.

Drill a small pilot hole in the broken stud and use the (appropriately sized) extractor to get the stud out. Be careful with the paint up there when working with a drill and sharp instruments.

The antenna should be easily available through your dealer. They're not very expensive. you could always replace it with aftermarket, including the shark fin, once you get the stud out.

Or you could pay someone to fix it . . .

You should be okay with a new antenna. As long as you can back out the broken bolt from the base.

If you are going to replace it I would def go with the sharkfin antennae it looks so much better and stream on the roof. I will be ordering one for my car soon just haven't had the money to spend on something that isn't broken just because I want it Lol.

I kinda scratched up my car though. I'm so mad! For sure gonna need to take it to a body shop. Looks like my car is gonna look sh!t for a couple months. Can't really pay for those things at the moment.

Yeah I saw the scratches right behind the antennae and on the base, you could probably rub out the white marks on the base and get some Meguires Swirl X Remover then wax it after.

The car wont look bad sans antennae for a while and if you're like most the world you probably have a digital media device so no antennae wont hurt your music quality. Hell does missing the antennae even affect the reception on your radio?

The base where the antenna sits has a crack I just saw it. Does anyone know how much the base costs ? Does anyone know how to remove the base

I don't know how much it costs, but installation is going to be high. Sounds like a great candidate for the shark fin. It sits over the base and will hide all that damage.

^^^+1^^^ Leave it be buff out the scratches in the paint and place an order for the sharkfin. The scratches cant be that noticeable as I am 6'5" and never really even notice my roof at all when I get in my car and once you lay down some compound or swirl remover and wax after I'm sure it will look fine.

Maybe someone can help think of something. If I hold the antenna back in its place the radio works. I can possibly rig it with something. To make it stay on there. Maybe a little solder ?

My first damage was when I was driving down the highway and the truck in front of me had a vinyl bed cover and the side rail bar mount blew off landed on my hood, a pillar, exploded my mirror and destroyed my windshield.

Made it even worse when my girlfriend told me not even 30 seconds prior, "looks like his cover is going to blow off I'd move over." Me, "Naw its ok, don't worry."

I felt like such a dumbass for that trust me, and she rubs that one in to this day still!!!!! Accidents happen so don't beat yourself up over it.

Your car will be fine and best to walk away from it reset your mind and approach it later to repair what you can and wait to order a replacement antennae. Take your time buffing out those scratches and just leave the antennae alone, just my .02¢ worth.

The one I need is a bit more expensive. I got the LT which has a better antenna then the base lol
