I am planning on putting a cargo carrier on my sedan, and it needs to be secure, weatherproof, and lockable.
I have found this unit, which I like better than its Thule cousin, because it has a usable tray when removed: Rola Enclosed Cargo Carrier for 1-1/4" (Class II) Trailer Hitches Rola Hitch Cargo Carrier 59108
It is etrailer part number 59108.
Here's my question: The whole assembly weighs 86 pounds, which only leaves 114 pounds to use, because the car and hitch are rated for 200# tongue weight.
I have heavy items that need to go in there, or in the trunk.
What is everyone's experience or thoughts on this? Could I exceed the 200# limit, to say, 300#? Also, is there any driveability change with this setup?
